to the country cottage of “Domaine de
Pomeix” in the Auvergne region in the
heart of France
Domaine de Pomeix is a bed and breakfast offering beautifully furnished
accommodation and gourmet breakfasts with delicious homemade jams and
seasonal fruit. It is situated in the picturesque village of Mirefleurs, 20km south of Clermont Ferrand,
the capital of the Auvergne region.
Situated between the River Allier and the village of Mirefleurs,
an old wine growing village, the Domaine de Pomeix is an old agricultural estate of
around 4 hectares of land with two main buildings and several small annexes.
It is completely surrounded by stone walls constructed with pebbles and country stones.
The land is dotted with many mature trees, springs, ornamental lakes, an orchard and
beautiful gardens. The region offers warm summers, mild winters and clean fresh air
in a serene and quiet environment.
It is open from March to November as a bed and breakfast, run by the owners; Jean and Jeannine Durif. Four rooms are available including a family suite consisting of two separate bedrooms separated by a small hall. The lounge decorated with local furniture and with a wood burning fireplace is at your disposal. All rooms have feather beds, a desk; internet access and en-suite bathroom and toilets. The rooms are beautifully decorated with your comfort in mind.
Jean and Jeannine offer gourmet breakfast in their dining room just across the courtyard from the bed and breakfast. Their home is an old converted building which used to be a cowshed and hay barn and has well conserved brick masonary with an imposing grange door. Breakfast consists of coffee/tea, croissants and breads accompanied by homemade jams, fresh fruit and juices and world famous Auvergne cheeses.
Local restaurants can be easily found 15 minutes drive away and you can also use the picnic area for lunch or a barbeque. You have access to the grounds, the orchard and the ornamental lakes.

Direction From the A75 motorway (Clermont-Ferrand – Montpellier), exit No.4 and follow Vic-Le-Comte or exit No.6 and follow Veyre Monton until the village of Les Martres de Veyre. At the traffic lights at the entrance of Les Martres de Veyre turn left, follow Mirefleurs/Cornon. At the first roundabout, turn right over the bridge (cross the River Allier), follow Mirefleurs/Pérignat sur Allier. At the second roundabout, turn left and follow Pérignat sur Allier (RD No1). After 350 metres, turn left and you will find the Domaine de Pomeix 100 metres in front.
